AMD+Nvidia onboard = most likely an nforce board, which usually have a graphics card slot. Open the case and see if you do.

You need more RAM on your computer. Also it helps to turn the graphics settings down. My laptop has 32mb video memory but still runs at about 25fps.

I've opened my computer and there are wires just flying everywhere. I don't really know what a graphics card slot looks like (you'd think it'd be simple : P). I've managed to locate a little black chip that says "NVIDIA" on it...

Do you know the name of your motherboard? That would help a lot. If possible, try to find the name of your power supply unit. Just open the side of your computer and take a look at the box with all of the wires coming out. If you have a weak PSU, you might have to upgrade that too.

Is the PSU a black bock beside the fan that has black, red and yellow wires coming out of it? I'm not exactly sure what the name of my motherboard is because I'm not familiar with the way that a motherboard looks like. I know where my hardrive is - whereabouts around the hardrive is it?

Yeah, it must be my ram then, because I turn my graphics settings really low and it still lags pretty bad.

I think a 6800xt should be fine. It should be able to handle max with 2x AA on EN i bet. Not a kickass FPS probably though. You could get about 20fps average im guessing

And you'd be right : P
The highest I've gotten is 30 or 31, and that's playing Prophecies.

Not necessarily. I have a motherboard made by some random company (ECS) and its an AMD with an Nvidia onboard GPU.

Your PSU is the object that the power cord plugs into on your PC (should be the black box).Your motherboard is the big board that everything is connected to.

I was actually in your situation just last week. For the upgrades, you definitely don't need more RAM. Trust me 1 GB is enough for now. The only thing I would recommend is to get a new video card. After you get the specs on your motherboard and PSU, we can help you make the right choice.

Don't plan for GW2 this early, as current computer parts will be outdated by then.

Hey, thank you for your help by the way : )
The black box I was talking about has company name or something, and it's Sunon. Underneath there's a bunch of numbers and letters and stuff, nothing that makes much sense, so it might be the wrong thing perhaps? What does a PSU spec/code look like?
And for the motherboard, would the name of the motherboard be enough or are there specs on that too? It's really hard to find it though, because there are thick wires covering everything.

Sorry for putting you guys through this...

PSU labels look like this: http://www.legitreviews.com/images/r...z700_label.jpg
Taking a picture of yours and posting it might be a good idea...

What brand and model is your computer? It sounds like it's some pre-built Dell, HP, or whatever brand it is. If you have the model number (probably a sticker on the outside of your case somewhere), it would be easy to figure out what you can upgrade.

Glad to help

For your PSU what you mainly need to look for is the number of watts and the rating under the 12v. Taking a picture of the label would help a lot.

We need the specs of the motherboard, but the name would be sufficient to find the rest of the stuff out. as eggrolls pointed out, if you bought it from a company the model number would be enough.

: D Sadly I don't have a camera anymore... but I think I found the PSU (and maybe the motherboard, if these numbers and names make sense).

Hipro
AC Input - 47 - 63 Hz
There are then a bunch of different numbers for the DC output

+5v AND +3.3v "Shall not exceed" 175W
+5v AND +12v "Shall not exceed" 268W
"Max Output Power" 300W

Sunon
13.F.GN
1.6 W

I think that Hipro is my PSU...

Btw, this is the most friendly community I've ever encountered. It's refreshing, really : P

with that PSU you won't be able to put in a 7600GT, let alone a 8600GT...
that psu is only 300W, and "brandless" for that matter.

I suggest upgrading it like this:
2×1gb Ram and make it run in dual channel
New PSU, with good brand like Zalman or Coolermaster etc at least 400W
New GFX card, 8600GT is a nice card for this system.
I suggest going to your local computer shop, or where you bought it (unless it's a dell or something)

For the rest you can easily play GW on highest setting (most newer games as well).
But the videocard you have now is just a laugh :P

i AGREE WITH lUNA, BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ram YOU GET IS CAPABLE OF DUAL CHANNEL. (lol caps lock got me) Another good P/S bran is Antec, which is what Im using now(450W Smartpower). And you definitely want a DX10 capable videocard, preferably at least 256MB, but 512MB would be much better.

Actually a 6800xt has 8 pixel pipelines and 4 vertex pipelines. However 8pp and 2vp are locked. I used a program called rivatuner to unlock them (Find a guide online because you could mess it up if you clicked a wrong checkbox) and it gives me a boost. I have been able to get up to 40fps and unlocked these has no downside (unlike overclocking you cant fry your card like this).

Its possible some of the locked pipelines are faulty and you will get artifacts. Just disable them until you pinpoint the faulty one and don't use it.

Also theres overclocking. I got my core clock to 360 and memory to 666 (not to be satanic. That was the max setting for safety). Of course you should find your own setting and if your new to overclocking find a guide, because i will not be responsible when smoke comes from your PC

Heh, it seems I have tons of options.
I didn't realize how terrible my system is until I read all of these things I should've known. Surely I can go to my local computer shop and get it upgraded, but it might be best to buy a new system with all the above said features on it.
Do you guys think that it would be cheaper in the long run if I do so or would upgrading the individual parts be less costly?
